About This Project
As a French-German artist, Michel Pietsch aka Cren discovered graffiti and the art of lettering on his constant travels back and forth by rail in the 1980s. Now based in Berlin, he has consistently been bending the rules of typography, composing a body of work that has seen him reconstruct the letter in a graphic universe which, on the face of it, appears to be abstract. He creates unique works in which the writing comes to the fore in a highly personal style.
